Bahamas Accounting Jobs

Bahamas has a thriving community of accountants providing a host of services to both international and local banks and auditing firms. As such, accountants are always in demand to service the large number of big and small accounting and auditing firms. Accounting jobs are mainly certified public accountants (CPA) and registered public accountants (RPA), and may also include auditing, book-keeping, credit analysts, reports preparation. There are currently about 300 chartered accountants are working in the Bahamas.

Membership in the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) is mandatory to be able to practice public accounting in the archipelago. Registration as member is required for RPAs while a BICA license is a must for CPAs. Those not affiliated with the BICA are not authorized to represent themselves as public accountants in the Bahamas, although they may engage in a limited type of accounting works like bookkeeping or cost accounting, and only as an employee of another person. The regulations is in accordance with the government's mandate to level the professional standards of its core employees to that of respected global financial hubs like the US, UK, Japan and Singapore.

Staffing companies have also thrived as a result for the large demand for financial services professionals in the Bahamas, deploying and rotating thousands of accounting and auditing professionals yearly. Those with direct link or physical office in the Bahamas while some are recruiting companies with links to Bahamas-based employment agencies.
